These latest pictures were taken of the DofE Group on their Qualifying Expedition which was completed on Friday 24th & Saturday 25th July 2009. Their expedition was completed on the Brecon Beacons National Park.
They have all now completed their BRONZE Award.
      Since last year, we have been running our very own Duke of Edinburgh Award Group here at Dowlais Engine House. We decided during the first year to only run the Bronze Award group as a trial and had a nice group of 12 young people sign up to the scheme.
The scheme is open to those aged 14 - 25 who want to achieve a nationally recognised qualification that demonstrates commitment, dedication and hard work.
During the year the group had to take part in a number of different activities based around the different sections of the Award that needs to be completed. These are Physical Recreation, Skill and Service.
We have recently come back off our practice expedition where 8 of our group had an insight into what is expected from them on the qualifying expedition. The qualifying expedition is being held on Friday 24th July and Saturday 25th July and promises to be a very enjoyable but demanding couple of days for the young people.
